Man Charged In Double Shooting In Hamden: Police

Two people were seriously injured in the shooting earlier this year, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A man has been charged in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Dixwell Avenue around 12:15 a.m. on May 13 on the report of shots fired. Officers found a 20-year-old New Haven resident, in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Pershing Street, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Dolan said a second victim, a 22-year-old Hamden resident, was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his buttocks, hand and pelvis. Both victims were hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries, according to Dolan.

Detective Jomo Crawford conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting with assistance from the New Haven Shooting Task Force, according to Dolan.

Michael Wooten, 23, of Hamden, was arrested Oct. 12 and charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was held in lieu of a $350,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 17.
