Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting: Hamden Police
The man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a 27-year-old man in Hamden.
HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Hamden in 2021, according to police.
Ryan Moore, 35, was arrested Wednesday on warrant and charged with murder, criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was in custody at the Department of Corrections on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest, according to Sgt. Angela Vey.
The arrest stems from the investigation into the fatal shooting of Tyishoun Matheney, 27, that happened Aug. 8, 2021 on Butler Street near Goodrich Street. Police responded shortly after midnight to the area of Goodrich Street and Butler Street on the report of a gunshot victim.

Police said at the time that Matheney had been shot multiple times in the back when officers found him. He died at Yale-New Haven Hospital nearly four hours later.
The initial investigation found that Matheney was involved in a "heated" argument before being shot, and he was shot several more times after he fell to the ground, police said at the time.

“Detective Jomo Crawford, along with members of the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting,” Vey wrote in a news release. “Numerous agencies assisted with the homicide investigation including Detective Bleck Joseph of the New Haven Police Department, Captain Lewis, Lieutenant Roberts and Officer Torres all from the Department of Correction, the New Haven Correctional Intelligence Unit and Emanuel Hatzikostas of the FBI.”
Moore was being held in lieu of a $2.5 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Vey.
Brian Ward, 30, was previously arrested in connection with the shooting. Ward was with Matheney at the time he was shot by another person, police said at the time. It was also determined that Ward shot a handgun toward the shooter, after the initial shots were fired, according to police.
Ward was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond with a court date of March 22, according to state judicial records.
