Man Injured In Shooting In Broad Daylight In Hamden: Police

The gunman was firing several shots at a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A man was injured in a shooting in broad daylight Wednesday in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Concord Street near Dixwell Avenue around 12 noon on the report of a person firing several shots at an occupied vehicle that was stopped in the middle of Dixwell Avenue, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

The vehicle was described as a newer model, black, four-door sedan (possibly a Volkswagen Jetta), according to Dolan.

Dolan said the gunman was described as a thin black male in his late teens to early 20s, with short braided hair, and was wearing a black sweatsuit. The suspect and the vehicle both left the scene after the shooting, according to Dolan.

“Detectives recovered ballistic evidence and are investigating if there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect on foot and the stopped vehicle,” Dolan wrote in a news release.

A 35-year-old man later arrived by car at St Raphael’s Hospital with a non-life threatening, shooting injury related to this investigation, Dolan said.
