Man Sentenced For Murder Of Hamden Woman, Arson

A jury recently found the man guilty of murdering Jennifer Antonier in her Hamden home on Christmas night in 2015.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man has been sentenced to serve 70 years in prison for murdering a woman in her home on Christmas night in 2015 and then setting the property on fire in an attempt to cover up the killing, according to the New Haven Register.

A jury found Benjamin Carpenter, 28, guilty of murder and second-degree arson in April. On Monday, a Superior Court judge sentenced Carpenter to serve 55 years for the murder of Jennifer Antonier and 15 years on the arson charge, according to the Register. Antonier, who was 45 at the time of her death, worked as a rehabilitation counselor at a Yale psychiatric facility and was also a portrait artist, Randall Beach of the Register reports. She had been beaten and repeatedly stabbed in her throat and arms at her Lilac Avenue home, according to the Register.
