Man Shot In Leg In Hamden: Police

Police say the victim was "less than cooperative" during the initial investigation.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg Sunday morning in Hamden. At about 10 a.m. on Sept. 10, Hamden Police responded to the 1500 block of Dixwell Avenue on the report of a shooting, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Responding officers spoke with the 30-year-old victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg, according to Smith. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Smith said the victim, “who was less than cooperative,” told police that he was shot by an unknown person, from an unknown direction. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.

The Hamden Police Department Emergency Services Unit responded and secured the crime scene and surrounding area.

Detective William Onofrio is conducting the investigation.
