Men Break Into Pizza Shop, Struggle with Owner, Take Liquor Bottles: Hamden Police

Police are looking for the two suspects, who entered the restaurant late Wednesday night.

Hamden police say two men broke into a pizza shop late Wednesday night and took two bottles of liquor from the owner’s office and had a brief struggle with the owner.

Police responded to Slyce of Pizza at 141 Arch Street at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 19, Sergeant Anthony Diaz said in a press release.

Investigation revealed that the owner of the establishment was sitting in his office when two subjects, described as being black males, between 20 – 25 years old, entered the unlocked screen door to the rear of the business.

The first suspect was wearing a red cap with a dark shirt and the second suspect was shorter and wore a Chicago White Sox baseball cap and black T-shirt, according to Diaz.

The suspects took two bottles of liquor from the owner’s office and the owner attempted to grab suspect #2 and a brief struggle ensued and suspect #1 attempted to hit him with a bottle, according to Diaz.

Both suspects then ran off northbound on Fairview Avenue.

The owner of the establishment wasn’t injured.

Detective John Marks of the Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.
