New Hamden Police Department Public Information Officer Announced
Detective Sean J. Dolan, the current Public Information Officer, is retiring after nearly three decades of police service.
HAMDEN, CT — Sgt. Angela Vey has been named the new Public Information Officer for the Hamden Police Department, Acting Police Chief Timothy F. Wydra announced Thursday.
Vey has also been assigned to serve as the Commander of the department’s Training Division along with Social Media Coordinator, according to Wydra.
Vey takes over for Detective Sean J. Dolan, who is retiring after nearly three decades of police service. Dolan spent the majority of his career in the Major Crimes Unit and was named to the post after longtime Public Information Officer Capt. Ronald Smith retired in Aug. 2021.

Vey joined the Hamden Police Department in 2007 after serving six years with the Guilford Police Department.
“During her career in Hamden, she has had assignments as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Community Liaison Officer, and Police Explorer Coordinator,” according to a news release. “She was promoted to Sergeant in 2021 and served in the Patrol Division as a first line Supervisor.”
