New Haven Man Charged in Violent Shoplifting Incident at Home Depot in Hamden
Hamden police arrested the man on a warrant for the November incident.

Hamden police have arrested a New Haven man in connection with a violent shoplifting incident at Home Depot in November, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.
Police responded to the store on Nov. 11 and investigation revealed that Jonathan Mckinnie, 43, attempted to leave the store without paying for a power tool, valued at $100, according to Smith.
Mckinnie was subsequently approached by a Loss Prevention Officer. Mckinnie assaulted the employee, who was pushed into a safety pillar and suffered a hand and wrist injury, according to Smith.

Officer Craig Appleby conducted an investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Mckinnie.
Mckinnie, of 62 Orchard Street in New Haven, was arrested Jan. 15 on charges of third-degree robbery and third-degree assault. Mckinnie, who was detained at police headquarters on a $15,000 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 28.
