NPR’s Eric Marrapodi to discuss election and the news media’s responsibility in covering during talk at Quinnipiac on Oct. 18
HAMDEN, Conn. – Eric Marrapodi, a distinguished journalist with NPR news and 2003 graduate of the Quinnipiac School of Communications, will discuss the upcoming election cycle during a talk at Quinnipiac University on Friday, Oct. 18.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of Quinnipiac’s Critical Conversations Speaker Series. Marrapodi will speak from 1-2 p.m. in the Center for Communications, Computing and Engineering, Room 101, on the Mount Carmel Campus.
The discussion will be moderated by Mary Snow, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Marrapodi is vice president for news programming at NPR. He oversees the news magazine shows, the podcasts “Up First,” “Consider This,” “NPR News Now,” the newscast division and the network booking and specials team.
During his time at NPR, Marrapodi has worked on the management team at “Morning Edition” and was the lead producer on several special coverage events.
Before coming to NPR, Marrapodi was the senior producer in Washington for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, overseeing all of the Washington editorial and production needs for the show. He previously worked at CNN, where he was part of their Emmy Award-winning election coverage as well as the co-creator of the Belief blog, which focused on faith and values.
Marrapodi has a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Quinnipiac and a master's degree in religious studies from Georgetown University.
The objective of QU’s Critical Conversations Speaker Series is to foster an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment at Quinnipiac, promoting inclusivity of thought, respectful dialogue, empathetic engagement and open-mindedness among students, faculty and staff. The events are designed to empower participants to be better prepared to embrace inclusivity of thought by actively listening to and engaging with concepts and ideas that may challenge their personal values, without dismissing or silencing differing viewpoints.
