Clarence R. Atkinson, 86, of Hamden, entered eternal rest on July 4, 2016.
Mr. Atkinson was born in New Haven, CT on January 29, 1930. He was a son of the late Bishop Austin Atkinson and Lethia Atkinson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and prior to retiring, was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a Machine Operator.
Mr. Atkinson was a member of Agape Christian Center in New Haven where he served as an Elder.

He leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories, his children; Clarence B. Atkinson, Sigrid D. Atkinson and Sabrina (Byron Sr.) J. Breland; sisters, Mary Etta A. Joyner, Overseer Mattie A. Darden, Nora A. McCleese and Virginia A. Griffen; a brother, Charles N. Atkinson; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Atkinson's life and legacy will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, at 6:00 PM at Agape Christian Center, 90-100 Goffe St., New Haven. Viewing will be held at the church from 4:00-6:00 PM. Burial will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
