Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Route 15 in Hamden: State Police

The pedestrian was walking on the shoulder of the highway.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man, who was walking in the right shoulder of Route 15 Southbound near Exit 61 in Hamden just before midnight was struck and killed by a passing motorist, State Police said.

At 11:20 p.m. Friday, State Police responded to a report of a pedestrian, Mark A. Bernardi, 50, of Blake Street in New Haven, who was walking in the right shoulder of Route 15, and was struck by a car.

The pedestrian was found in the median and the driver of the car that hit him remained at the scene, State Police said. Bernardi was pronounced dead at the scene.
