Quinnipiac Mourns Death Of Student, 20, In Hamden
A 20-year-old student died at an off-campus home in Hamden, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — Quinnipiac University is mourning the death of a 20-year-old student, who died at an off-campus home in Hamden on Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to the home on Whitney Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on the report of an unresponsive student, according to Detective Sean Dolan.
Dolan said Hamden Fire Department personnel responded and rendered aid to the 20-year-old man, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for an autopsy, according to Dolan.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, the untimely death appears to be an isolated incident and no foul play is suspected," Dolan wrote in a news release. "The OCME is assisting with this investigation and will determine the cause and manner of death."
In a message to the school community, Quinnipiac officials identified the student as Cristian Caamano of Manhasset, New York. Caamano was a fourth-year entrepreneurship student in the School of Business.

“This is a terrible loss for Cristian’s family and friends, and for our community,” Holly Raider, dean of the School of Business, and Monique Drucker, vice president and dean of students, said in an email to the Quinnipiac community. “We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and to our community.”
Quinnipiac is offering counseling services to students and staff.
“We are a supportive Bobcat family – please let us know if we or our colleagues can be helpful to you as we extend our deepest sympathies during this time of sadness and grief,” the email reads. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Cristian’s family.”
