HAMDEN – Stephen Sweet of West Haven, director of student conduct and community standards at Quinnipiac University, has been appointed Region 11 chair for ASCA, the Association for Student Conduct Administration, for the 2022-2023 academic year.

“I am very excited to bring my experience and passion for student conduct, education and student development to the Association for Student Conduct Administration,” Sweet said. “I also bring a commitment to our field, our colleagues and, above all, our students.”

ASCA serves as the leading voice for student conduct in higher education. ASCA’s mission is to uphold the integrity of the student conduct process, resulting in the ability to build safer educational communities and positively impact the higher education experience.

In his new role, Sweet said he hopes to be a catalyst for communication, best practices, benchmarking and collaboration between student conduct offices to help ensure that campuses address similar issues in a consistent and meaningful way. Region 11 is comprised of the six New England states.

“We all share a responsibility to build safe, inclusive and successful communities, and the learning that comes from student conduct is invaluable,” Sweet added.

Sweet, who joined Quinnipiac in 2019, has a bachelor’s degree in history from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, a master’s of education degree in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont, and a master’s of science in organization leadership from Quinnipiac.
