For their upcoming performance at Quinnipiac, the trio will present Jean Cras’s String Trio (1927) and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 60 (1875).

Jean Cras was a French naval officer who was also a wonderfully gifted and creative composer. His string trio is imbued with the moods and sounds he experienced on his many voyages around the globe, also drawing on the music of his native Brittany.

Lauren Reed, visiting assistant professor of music at Quinnipiac, will join the Adaskin String Trio playing the dramatic and heartfelt Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor by Johannes Brahms. This quartet combines the passion and energy of youth with experienced craftsmanship and dramatic control, making it one of the stunning masterpieces in the chamber music literature.
Since 1994, the Adaskin String Trio has won over audiences with exuberant playing and programming that blends classical masterpieces with unexpected treasures. Their playing has been hailed for “vigor, precision and stylistic certitude” (Charleston Gazette) as well as “spontaneity, intensity and charm” (Peninsula Review). The trio has toured throughout the USA and Canada performing at venues such as the The Frick Collection in New York, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach and in Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal and Chicago.
