‘Scared To Death’ Cat Found Abandoned In Hamden: Animal Control

A dog walker was alerted to the crying cat, which was found abandoned under a porch in a carrier with no food or water, officials said.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Animal Control is asking for help with finding the person who abandoned a cat at a condominium complex in Hamden on Monday.

“Another animal dumped!!” officials wrote in a post on the animal control’s Facebook page. “If you recognize this cat or the carrier please call and report it. The cat was left under a porch at the condos in a carrier with no food or water. He is scared to death! It is a violation of the cruelty statute to abandon an animal. Luckily the cat was crying which alerted a dog walker to his presence.”

Officials said the person who abandoned the cat was described as a younger female who came from the area of Dawes Street and left the cat at the condos on Treadwell Street around 3 p.m. on Monday, April 13.
