Special Olympics Connecticut to Host Unified Sports® Fall Festival

Annual Event will Feature Competition in Bocce, Croquet, Golf, Sailing and Softball

Special Olympics Connecticut will hold its Annual Unified Sports® Fall Festival presented by Mohegan Sun on Saturday, September 10th and Sunday, September 11th and Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th. Athletes of all abilities from across the state will come together to compete in bocce, croquet, golf, sailing and softball with support from volunteers from the community and companies sponsoring the event. Bocce competition will take place at Scalzi Park in Stamford on September 10th and 11th. Softball will be held at Kennedy Field in East Haven on September 10th and East Shore Park in New Haven on both September 10th and 11th. Sailing will be held at the Wadawanuck Club in Stonington on Saturday, September 10th and golf will take place at the Sleeping Giant Golf Course in Hamden on Sunday, September 11th. All events will are expected to run between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Croquet competition will be held the following weekend, September 17th and 18th, at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.

Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings athletes - individuals with intellectual disabilities and Unified partners - their teammates without disabilities, together on the same team to train and compete in sports and inspire friendships and acceptance and inclusion for all participants, on and off the playing field.
