The trooper's vehicle was struck while at the scene of another crash early Wednesday morning.

HAMDEN, CT — A state trooper was hospitalized with a suspected minor injury after their vehicle was struck while at the scene of another crash on Route 15 in Hamden early Wednesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Route 15 South near Exit 60 in Hamden. The state police cruiser was in the right shoulder with its emergency lights activated, according to police.

The driver of the Buick then lost control of his vehicle due to the icy conditions, causing the vehicle to veer to the left and strike the concrete barrier in the center median, according to police.

Police said the Buick then veered right and struck the Hyundai, which led to the driver losing control of that vehicle and striking the police cruiser.
