Stolen SUV Crashes Into House In Hamden
The suspects ran away from the scene after the crash, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — The driver of a vehicle stolen out of East Haven crashed into a house in Hamden on Wednesday morning, moments after fleeing the scene of an accident, according to police. At about 9:10 a.m. on Aug. 29, Hamden Police responded to 83 North Street after a Ford Escape crashed into the house, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the Ford Escape, which was stolen earlier in East Haven, was involved in a “minor accident” in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street. The stolen SUV fled from the scene. The operator of the vehicle that was struck by the stolen vehicle, followed closely behind, but was not in pursuit, according to Smith.
Moments later, the operator of the stolen vehicle lost control and struck 83 North Street, Smith said. The residence suffered structural damage in the crash. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Smith said the occupants of the stolen vehicle, described as a young black male, wearing a gray shirt and a young black female, wearing red “scrubs” and a backpack, ran away from the scene toward Warren Street.
Hamden Police conducted a K-9 track, which was unsuccessful, according to Smith.
