HAMDEN - Quinnipiac University engineering and computer science students installed storm drain medallions in Hamden’s West Woods neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The medallions, which raise awareness about stormwater and how it can impact local waterbodies, are emblazoned with, “Drains To Long Island” and “No Dumping”

“This event is important for our students because it connects them with our broader community in Hamden, emphasizing one of our residential life themes of community citizenship,” said Kim DiGiovanni, associate teaching professor of civil engineering. “The students participate and have an impact in our community.”

The project is a collaboration with the Town of Hamden Inland Wetlands Commission and Mill River Watershed Association. The medallions were purchased through a grant from the Claire C. Bennitt Watershed Fund.
