Teen, 18, Charged With Sexual Assault: Hamden Police

The accused was arrested on a warrant following an extensive investigation, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An 18-year-old Hamden resident was arrested at his home early Wednesday morning in connection to a sexual assault that occurred last summer, according to police. At about 5:30 a.m. on May 16, members of the U.S. Marshal Service Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested James Thompson at his home on William Street. Thompson was wanted for a sexual assault that occurred in the northern section of Hamden during the summer of 2017, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Detective Angelo DeLieto of the Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit conducted an extensive investigation that led to the arrest warrant.

Thompson, 18, was charged with first-degree sexual assault and was held on a court-ordered $100,000 bond. Thompson was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 16.
