Three Men Hospitalized, Amtrak Closes Track Following Hamden Construction Site Accident (Updated)
Police said the injuries were non-life threatening.

This afternoon, at approximately 2:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to State Street on the report of a construction accident.

Upon arrival, officers observed Hamden Fire Department personnel rendering medical assistance to 3 individuals, who had fallen nearly 30 feet. The 3 parties, who sustained serious injuries, were promptly transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the 3 injured workers were climbing off of a roof of a building that is under construction. The workers were attempting to climb onto a pallet, which was on an aerial lift machine. Further investigation revealed that the machine “shifted”, which may have caused the workers to fall from the pallet.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration were contacted and were responding to the scene. In addition, Amtrak Police responded due to the close proximity of the accident site, to the train tracks.
The injured parties are not being identified pending notification of family members. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

Three men have been taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and Amtrak has shut down one track in the area of 2300 State Street in Hamden due to a construction accident, according to the Hamden Fire Department.
The Hamden Police Department said the injuries were non-life threatening.
The three workers fell from a lift at the construction site, according to the fire department.
Amtrak shut down the track due to the proximity of the construction site as a precaution while authorities investigate the accident scene.
