Woman, 54, Stabbed Other Woman in Chest with Scissors: Hamden Police

The 27-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, back, shoulder and hand while trying to break up a fight, police said.

HAMDEN, CT — A 54-year-old Meriden woman is accused of stabbing another woman multiple times while the victim was attempting to break up a fight, according to Hamden Police.

On Feb. 21, Hamden Police Officer Jennifer King observed a “fight-in-progress” in the area of Morse Street and Columbus Street. As King approached the large crowd, she heard a female screaming that she had been stabbed.

Capt. Ronald Smith said investigation revealed that the 27-year-old victim was attempting to intervene in a physical altercation between her sister and Gloria Williams.

During the struggle, she was stabbed multiple times by Williams, who was wielding a pair of scissors, according to Smith.

The victim sustained stab wounds to her chest, back, shoulder and hand. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.

Detective Scott Levenduski assumed the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Williams.

On Dec. 17, Williams was detained by the West Haven Police Department and turned over to Hamden Police custody.

Williams, of Hamilton Street in Meriden, was arrested on charges of second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Williams is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 3.
