HARTFORD, CT — Slightly more than <a href="https://www.hartfordbusiness.com/article/more-than-100-hartford-healthcare-employees-out-of-work-after-refusing-vaccine" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">100 employees</a> at Hartford HealthCare have left the organization due to their refusal to be vaccinated for COVID-19, The Hartford Business Journal reported. However, that number represents a tiny sliver of the company's 33,000 employees. A company official said about 98% of employees have been vaccinated. Those who refused the vaccine come from <a href="https://www.hartfordbusiness.com/article/more-than-100-hartford-healthcare-employees-out-of-work-after-refusing-vaccine" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">various departments</a> across the system. A company official told the Hartford Business Journal that the vaccine mandate hasn't had a significant impact on staffing. We’re excited to invite students in&nbsp;grades 4–7&nbsp;to campus for&nbsp;S.P.A.R.K.—a free, hands-on&nbsp;morning of discovery&nbsp;at Kingswood Oxford on&nbsp;Saturday, May 16.
S.P.A.R.K.&nbsp;stands for&nbsp;Science. Play. Action. Research. Knowledge,&nbsp;and that’s exactly what the morning is all about. Students will dive into interactive labs, ask big questions, and explore how science connects to the world around them.
Throughout the morning, students will rotate through all three engaging sessions:
Snack Science: Cracking the Code of Carbs, Fats &amp; Proteins
Students will test everyday foods to uncover the building blocks of life - carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
From Cabbage to Chemistry: A Color-Changing Exploration of pH
Using red cabbage as a natural indicator, students will experiment with acids and bases and watch chemistry come alive in vibrant color.
Air Apparent: The Invisible Force All Around Us
Through hands-on experiments, students will explore the properties of air—and discover just how powerful something invisible can be.
