Nearly 100 hospital employees terminated

Yale-New Haven Health has terminated the employment of 94 employees who declined to get vaccinated, which represents 1 percent of all 29,000 employees, WFSB 3 TV reports. A total of 700 employees received exemptions. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).

COVID-19 vaccine mandate for school children?

Dr. Manisha Juthani, who is the state Department of Public Health Commissioner, told the CT Mirror that she would support a vaccine mandate for students when the vaccine is fully approved by the FDA. However, in the same interview, she said she is not considering such a mandate now.

California has adopted such a mandate, and it would mean students who do not get vaccinated would need to be homeschooled, according to the report. Gov. Ned Lamont has said since the vaccine is approved through "emergency use" currently, he wouldn't consider a mandate now, the CT Mirror reported. COVID-19 updates for CT

Out of the 1,979 cases of COVID-19 recorded by the state Department of Public Health in the past seven days, 423, or 21.4 percent, were among residents who had already been completely vaccinated.

With 1,147 cases confirmed over the weekend, out of 62,825 tests taken, the daily positivity rate reported Monday afternoon was 1.83 percent, a drop of 0.04 percent.

Hospitalizations climbed 15 beds over the weekend. As of Monday, there are 247 people being treated for the virus inside Connecticut hospitals. (View town-by-town updates here).

CT 1st In Nation In Childhood Immunizations: Gov. Lamont

Connecticut has the highest rate of childhood immunizations in the nation, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Connecticut's immunization coverage rate is an estimated 80.2 percent for the recommended immunization series among children from birth to age 24 months, according to the report. The national average is 70.5 percent, and the New England region's rate is 79.7 recent.

"This report reveals that once again, Connecticut is a national leader in childhood immunization," Lamont said in a statement.
