$15k Seized From Hartford Heroin Dealer

More than $15,000 was seized from him. He was recently sentenced to prison.

HARTFORD, CT — A man who purchased distribution level quantities of heroin was sentenced to two years in federal prison.

Richard Rivera, 35, of Hartford obtained heroin from Franklyn Caraballo-Almonte at Katty Grocery, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. An undercover agent bought heroin from Rivera in December 2016 and January 2017.

Rivera was arrested in Janaury 2017 after he agreed to sell 900 bags of heroin to an undercover agent. They seized 950 bags of heroin and $1,642 in cash. Crack cocaine, marijuana and nearly $15,000 in cash was found at his South Street residence during a search.

He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute heroin. Caraballo-Almonte has pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
