30 Years After 'Destruction,' Guns N' Roses Returning To Hartford

The legendary rock group has included the XL Center as one of 11 additional venues it will play during its current tour.

HARTFORD, CT — Thirty years ago today, on July 21, 1987, the best-selling debut album in rock and roll history was released by a "hair metal" band that had previously played the Los Angeles club circuit. With Appetite For Destruction eventually selling nearly 30 million copies and topping the Billboard 200 album chart for four weeks, Guns N' Roses became a driving force in hard rock that eventually saw the band elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

Three decades after classic tunes like "Sweet Child o' Mine" (the group's lone No. 1 single), "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City" all reached the top 10 of the Billboard singles chart, the band commenced its Not In This Lifetime tour last month in Detroit. A number of concert dates have just been added to the schedule, including a stop in Hartford at the XL Center on Monday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $220 to $625.
