Newington Man Identified As Fatal Shooting Victim In Hartford: Police

The 32-year-old was one of five shot early Sunday morning in the city.

HARTFORD/NEWINGTON, CT — A Newington man has now been identified as the fatal gunshot victim in an early-morning shooting Sunday in Hartford that also wounded four others, police said Monday afternoon.

The Hartford Police Department identified the man who died as Joseph Texidor, 32, of Newington.

Officers responded to the area of 737 Wethersfield Ave. at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, after receiving a ShotSpotter notification, according to police.

Officers arrived to find a large crowd and an unresponsive gunshot victim.

Texidor was pronounced dead by responding emergency medical personnel, police said.

Four other people suffering from gunshot wounds were taken to area hospitals in private vehicles.

Police described the surviving victims as a man in his 30s, a man in his 20s, another man in his 30s and an adult woman.

All four were listed in stable condition in the department's latest update. One of the victims has been listed as critical.

A total of five people were shot during the incident, police said.

Hartford police's Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions responded and are investigating.

Police did not release information about what led to the shooting or identify any suspects in the update.

The investigation remains active.
