'Urgent' Plea For Help As Hartford Animal Shelter Is Full (patch.com) — Hartford residents are being urged to help after the Hartford Animal Shelter, which serves the city through a partnership with Hartford police, announced it is full. The Bloomfield-based facility is asking locals to share posts about adoptable dogs and contact staff directly if seriously interested, hoping to quickly free up space and avoid turning animals away.

Hartford Athletic to host sixth annual hiring expo (wfsb.com) — Hartford residents looking for work can meet more than 50 employers at Hartford Athletic's free Hiring Expo Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trinity Health Stadium. Local and state leaders will speak, and attendees can also get résumé help, interview tips, and dress-for-success advice, with parking available in the gravel section of Lot 2 off Masseek Street and Huyshope Avenue.
   

3. Yard Goats field manager gets Dunkin' Park ready for playoffs (wtnh.com) — Playoff baseball is coming to Dunkin' Park as the Hartford Yard Goats host a home Eastern League postseason game Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. Field operations manager Matt Piersanti and his crew are working long days to keep Hartford's field in top shape for fans and players.
   

4. Student found with ghost gun at Hartford high school (wfsb.com) — A Hartford student was detained after staff at University High School of Science and Engineering found a 9mm "ghost gun" with a high-capacity magazine in a locker, prompting a lockdown. Hartford police secured the weapon, arrested the juvenile, and a judge later ordered the student held at a Connecticut juvenile detention center.
   

5. 2 CT Children's Hospitals Rank Among New England's Best By U.S. News (patch.com) — Families in Hartford can take pride that Connecticut Children's Medical Center in the city ranks No. 3 among New England children's hospitals in new U.S. News & World Report ratings. The hospital also earned a national ranking in one pediatric specialty, giving local parents another data point when weighing care options alongside top-ranked centers in New Haven and Boston.
