Hartford PD Mourns Deputy Chief Who Served More Than 2 Decades (patch.com) — Hartford is mourning Deputy Chief Jason Lee, a 20-plus-year police veteran remembered for his leadership in crime scene work, professional standards, and department initiatives. Colleagues say he continued reporting for duty and supporting recruitment and development even while undergoing cancer treatment, and both Hartford police and fire officials emphasize that his dedication to the city's safety will leave a lasting legacy.
2. All of the Major Names Appearing at 90s Con 2026 (entertainmentnow.com) — Hartford is about to host thousands of nostalgic fans when 90s Con 2026 takes over the Connecticut Convention Center from October 16–18, bringing big names like John Stamos, Melissa Joan Hart, and cast reunions from shows like Full House and The Nanny. Expect photo ops, panels, and even boy-band favorites like members of NSYNC and Backstreet Boys all weekend.
3. UConn is giving CT students a science project to address air quality (ctmirror.org) — Hartford's State Capitol was the backdrop as lawmakers and advocates unveiled a UConn partnership that sends build-your-own air purifiers and monitors to science classrooms across Connecticut, including Hartford schools. The program, already in 18 districts, aims to combat poor indoor air quality and asthma risks while districts are urged to use state reimbursement funds to upgrade aging HVAC systems.
4. Win Tickets To A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie At PeoplesBank Arena (audacy.com) — Hartford listeners can win tickets to A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's "10 Years of Artist" show at PeoplesBank Arena by calling into Hot 93.7 during the Buck N Regg show this week. Winners must use a mobile ticketing app and meet any venue health requirements to redeem their prize for the December 19, 2026 concert.
5. Bear's BBQ running for mental health awareness at Hartford Marathon (wfsb.com) — A local Bear's BBQ co-owner is running the Hartford Marathon to raise $50,000 for mental health training for restaurant workers across Connecticut. Their team's fundraising will support accredited courses that help staff recognize warning signs and connect coworkers with professional resources, aiming to reduce stigma and strengthen support in kitchens and dining rooms statewide.
