Big Brothers/Big Sisters Of CT To Honor Eversource Official At Gala

HARTFORD/SIMSBURY, CT – A major fundraising event next month in Simsbury will benefit a Hartford-based organization dedicated to mentorship for area youths.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut, located at 30 Laurel St., Hartford, recently announced it will hold its “Empowering Potential Gala" in support of youth mentoring.

It will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Riverview in Simsbury.

During the event, BBBS of CT, the state’s premier youth mentoring agency, will present Theresa Hopkins-Staten of Eversource Energy with its "Visionary Leader Award."

Hopkins-Staten is the president of the Eversource Energy Foundation and vice president of corporate citizenship and equity at Eversource.

The gala will raise funds to provide children facing adversity with professionally
supported, one-to-one mentors.

“Theresa is an inspiring leader who focuses on making our community more equitable and empowering. She has dedicated her whole career to public service and promoting the well-being of those in our community who are most vulnerable and under-resourced,” said Andy Fleischmann, BBBS of CT president and chief executive officer.

“I am honored to receive the Visionary Leader Award from BBBSCT,” said
Hopkins-Staten. “Throughout my career at Eversource, I’ve been passionate about
ensuring that customers and communities have access to the resources and programs
they need to thrive. BBBS of CT’s mission of empowering children and families for a more equitable future resonates with my core values and our everyday mission at Eversource — changing their lives for the better, forever.”

BBBS of CT’s gala will feature gourmet cuisine, signature cocktails, raffle, and auction items focused on exciting experiences, and inspiring mentors and children from across the state.
