Call for Nominations: Woman of the Year & Young Woman of the Year

Do you know of a woman or young woman in your community who is taking strides to make our world a better place? We want to hear about them!

Do you know of a woman or young woman in your community who is taking strides to make our world a better place? Nominate them for The Village for Families & Children’s Woman or Young Woman of the Year Award! Each year at The Village’s Girl Within Luncheon, The Village honors a Woman of the Year for making incredible contributions as a volunteer to young women and girls in their community. This year, we’re excited to introduce a new honor, Young Woman of the Year, to be awarded to a woman 18 years old or younger who has implemented a project or fundraiser that benefits her community. To submit your nomination, go to bit.ly/woty2019.

Previous Woman of the Year honorees include Carrie Firestone (author and resident of Avon) and Francine Christiansen (nonprofit consultant and resident of Hartford).

The Village’s 19th Annual Girl Within Luncheon will be held on Friday, December 6 at the Connecticut Convention Center. The Luncheon celebrates 129 years of helping young women and girls who need guidance and support to become resilient, confident and independent, and those who have experienced abuse and neglect to heal. Proceeds from the event support early intervention, educational and empowerment programs for young women and girls and their families, as well as therapeutic, residential and educational support in safe, caring environments. Learn more about the Luncheon at thevillage.org/girlwithin.
