Becker College, Worcester MA

  • Samuel Hauser of Hartford was named to Becker College's Dean's List for the spring 2018 semester. Hauser is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interactive Media Design, with a Computer Game Design Concentration. The Dean's List recognizes all full-time students (24 or more credit hours earned for the academic year; 12 minimum each semester - September through May) whose term grade point average is 3.50 or higher with no grade below a B- and no incomplete (I) or withdrawal/failing (WF) grades.

  • Peter Brainard III of Hartford has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study Chinese in Dalian, China, during the summer of 2018. The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. CLS scholars gain critical language and cultural skills that enagle them to contribute to U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. Mr. Brainard III is one of approximately 550 competitively selected American students at U.S. colleges and universities who received a CLS award in 2018.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

  • The Alpha Iota Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Tunxis Community College in Farmington announced the names of over 100 students who accepted membership in the honor society. They were formally recognized this spring at an induction ceremony. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges as the official honor fraternity of two-year colleges. To achieve eligibility for PTK, a student must complete at least 12 hours of associate degree course work and earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Throughout their enrollment, they must maintain high academic standing, generally a 3.0 GPA. About 130,000 students are inducted into Phi Theta Kappa each year. Among the honorees was Luis Miguel Ayala of Hartford.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

  • The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce the spring 2018 Dean's List. To be included on the Dean's List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades earning at least a 3.30 quality point average. Local students honored are Kevin Lawrence of Bloomfield, Karina Lopez of Hartford and Azira Salihovic of Hartford.
