Two unique offerings from Capital Community College's Hartford Heritage Project are available at reduced prices for those who wish to enjoy the college experience without the pressure of grades. Engage with Capital students as we learn together in Hartford.

Theater in the City (starts Sat. Aug 28)

Join Hartford Stage theater educators Jennifer Roberts and Nina Pinchin in this study of the related creative arts of playwright, director, actor, and designer and their collective contributions to contemporary American theater. Attending plays at Hartford's professional theatres will be the central focus of this course. Participants can expect lively conversations, input from members of the production teams, and behind-the-scenes insights about play productions this season in Hartford. This is a non-credit, no-grade option for those not registered as students.

Hybrid: meets on various Saturday afternoons 1:30-4:46 and includes online discussions; schedule will be determined based on Hartford theater schedules

Studies in American Literature: Stowe & Twain (starts Wed. Sept 1)

This unique section of ENG 220 meets at the house museums of Stowe and Twain in the Nook Farm neighborhood where they once lived. This allows us to take full advantage of the resources and staff knowledge at these two national landmark sites. The particular aim of this course to explore literature by Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain and some of their neighbors in the context of the Nook Farm community and the major social issues of mid- to late-19th century America, most notably race and gender, and to discuss how they relate to our 21st century world. This is a non-credit, no-grade option for those not registered as students.
