Chase on Route 2 Ends With Gun Charges for Driver
State police slapped drug and gun charges on a driver speeding along a stretch of Route 2 in Wednesday.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A man who was speeding along a stretch of Route 2 is facing drug and gun charges after crashing his car in East Hartford, state police said.
At 2:49 a.m. on Wednesday, state police from the Troop K barracks in Colchester attempted to stop a 2017 Nissan Altima traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 2 westbound in the area of exit 12.
The driver failed to stop and continued traveling at a high rate of speed and troopers had to call off the chase, according to a report.

Hartford-based Troop H was notified that the Altima was headed that way, according to a report.
Troopers observed the vehicle in East Hartford as it exited Route 2 westbound via the exit 4 off-ramp at a high rate of speed.

The car wound up at the bottom of the off-ramp against a guardrail and the operator fled the scene on foot.
Troopers found a pistol and narcotics inside the vehicle, and the driver was nabbed about a mile away from the scene by East Hartford police, according to a report.
The driver was identified as Marcell Marcano, 25, a convicted felon from New Britain, according to a report.
He was transported to Troop H and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, and interfering with an officer, according to a report.
Marcano was held on $50,000 bond and was to appear in Manchester Superior court later on Tuesday, state police said.
