Coronavirus CT: Rocky Hill Woman First Positive In Hartford Area
Hartford Hospital is treating its first patient that tested positive for the new coronavirus disease.

HARTFORD, CT — Hartford Hospital is treating its first COVID-19 patient. It is the first known case in the northern part of Connecticut. The patient is a woman in her 80's from Rocky Hill and she currently hospitalized and in isolation, said Hartford Healthcare CEO Jeffrey Flaks.
The woman has been cared for by hospital staff for days now, hospital officials said at a Friday night press conference.
Hospital and Hartford area officials said that they have been preparing for the virus' arrival in the area for weeks and that it isn't a surprise that it is in the region.

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin said the reality is that more people in the region likely have coronavirus.
"There are probably a number of other people who would test positive in the region…" Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin said, adding that there aren't enough tests yet.

Rocky Hill Mayor Lisa Marotta said that Rocky Hill is working closely with the state Department of Health and other health officials to begin contact tracing for anyone who may have come into contact with the woman.
The official count not including the new patient for coronavirus cases in Connecticut was 11 as of 4 p.m. Friday. The latest batch of six positive results came Friday.
Among towns affected as of earlier this afternoon are Bethlehem, Darien, Greenwich, and Westport, said state Epidemiologist Dr. Matthew Cartter during a Friday afternoon press conference.
