Coronavirus Hartford: Restaurant To Begin Layoffs
A Hartford restaurant will begin layoffs in response to restrictions on operations.
HARTFORD, CT — The Chowder Pot will layoff 95 workers this week after operations were limited due to state restrictions on restaurants, according to a document filed with the state Department of Labor. The 165 Brainard Road establishment reported limited operations began Tuesday, following Gov. Ned Lamont's order Monday to close all dine-in establishments.
All affected employees were notified of the termination on Monday. The terminations affected bartenders, servers, hosts, cooks, managers, and other positions.
At this point, it is not clear whether these terminations will be permanent.

"The crisis we are all facing is unfortunate and everyone is feeling the effects one way or another. We will continue to be here and remain positive in the hopes that we can provide some comfort, in the form of food, to all of you."
A recent reviewer on Yelp said: "Absolutely tasty seafood and great drinks too. I had the baked stuffed shrimps and they were so crunchy and buttery and packed with flavors. The entree was served with one of the best french fries that i have had."
Another Hartford business—Homewood Suites by Hilton—is expected to close due to the impact on travel.
