Real Art Ways presents its monthly social event, Creative Cocktail Hour on Thursday, August 17, 6-10pm. Everyone is welcome at Creative Cocktail Hour. Held on the third Thursday of every month at Real Art Ways. 56 Arbor Street, Hartford, Connecticut. To be held outside, weather permitting.

In August, Creative Cocktail Hour will feature a creative mix of musicians and artists, and things to do, including:

Live music from Nelson Bello & Friends: funk, soul, rhythm and blues with Nelson Bello on percussion, Dexter Pettaway on drums, Simone Moñe on vocals, Kris Jensen on saxophone, Asa Livingston on bass, and Jeremiah Fuller on piano.
Music from house DJ Mr. Realistic.
Every year, Real Art Ways offers free art making workshops for kids in our neighborhood in the park across the street! Our end of the year Park Art Celebration starts at 5pm, leading into a performances at 6:15pm as a part of CCH.
Food truck: our friends at Rolling Roti, serving authentic Guyanese food.
Hands-on art making activities for young and old alike.
Visitors will experience four separate exhibitions in Real Art Ways' galleries:
Burn the Midnight Oil by Ying Ye. This installation incorporates ingredients from her family's restaurant called China Eagle located in Ellington, including soy sauce, soy bean paper, tofu skin, soy beans, along with a bike sculpture. Ying Ye is a recipient of a 2022 Real Art Award.
Barricade by Jim Whitten. Found materials and appropriated film and television stills that examine the implications of improvised barricades in our cultural and political moment. Curated by David Borawski.
A Temporary Weight by Roni Aviv. A remarkable photographic exhibition commenting on the opacity and invisibility of experiences in everyday life. Curated by Cody Boyce.
Speaking Sentences Backwards featuring Paloma Izquierdo, Miguel Gaydosh, Matthew Schreiber, Laura Henriksen, Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste, and Dylan Hausthor. Curated by Cody Boyce.
Tickets for Creative Cocktail Hour are $15 general admission (free for Real Art Ways members). Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
