Convicted Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty To Escaping Bloomfield Halfway House

The 34-year-old suspect will be sentenced in January.

BLOOMFIELD, CT — A 34-year-old resident at a halfway house in Bloomfield has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport to escaping the house last year.

Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, announced that Charles Harrison, 34, pleaded guilty Friday in Bridgeport federal court to escaping from custody.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in December 2012, Harrison was sentenced in the Northern District of New York to 120 months of imprisonment for a narcotics trafficking offense.

Avery said that, on March 17, 2021, he was transferred to the Drapelick Center, a residential re-entry center (halfway house) in Bloomfield, to complete his custodial sentence.

On Sept. 7, 2021, Harrison left the facility on a day pass and failed to return, Avery said.
She said he was located and arrested in New York on March 29.

Harrison has been detained since his arrest, authorities said.

Harrison is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford on Jan. 6, 2023.

The offense carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years.
