Domestic and Dating Violence Prevention Advocate to Speak at CCSU

Melissa Dohme Hill Will Share Her Story of Survival at Central Connecticut State University

Melisssa Dohme Hill, a survivor and advocate for preventing domestic and dating violence, will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 1-3 p.m. at Central Connecticut State University, Founders Hall (Inside Davidson Hall), 1615 Stanley St. in New Britain.

As a college student in 2012, Dohme Hill survived a brutal attack where she was stabbed 32 times after leaving her abusive and jealous high school ex-boyfriend. She will share her story of survival and discuss the cycle of violence, controlling behaviors and red flags she experienced prior to the assault. Dohme Hill will also speak about empowerment, healthy relationships and how to help someone experiencing dating violence. Her story “Live to Tell: One Last Hug” was featured on 48 Hours.

The event is co-sponsored by Women’s Health Connecticut and Greater Hartford Women’s Health Associates. The project was supported by a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women.
