Drug Dealer Gets Sentenced For Fleeing Bloomfield Halfway House: Feds
The suspect was serving time for narcotics trafficking dating back to a prior arrest in Hartford.
HARTFORD, CT — A convicted drug dealer who escaped from a Bloomfield halfway house was sentenced to four extra months in prison on Monday.
Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. attorney for Connecticut, said Hector Santiago, 29, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams in Hartford to four months of imprisonment for escaping from the halfway house last year.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on Nov. 18, 2019, Santiago was sentenced in Hartford federal court to 69 months of imprisonment and four years of supervised release for a narcotics trafficking offense.

On June 23, 2023, he was transferred from the U.S. Penitentiary in Lee County, Va., to the Drapelick Center, a residential re-entry center in Bloomfield, to complete his custodial sentence.
On Sept. 27, 2023, Santiago walked away from the Drapelick Center and never returned, Avery said.

He was located and charged in Hartford on Feb. 9.
On March 11, Santiago pleaded guilty to escape from the custody of the attorney general.
Santiago’s four-month prison term is retroactive to May 13 and he will be on supervised release for four years when released from prison.
