East Hartford Man, 40, Identified As Fatal Shooting Victim: EHPD

The East Hartford Police Department said the man killed by gunfire Sunday was involved in a dispute with another person.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — East Hartford police Tuesday released more information, including the victim's identity, in connection with a homicide on Sunday night.

According to the East Hartford Police Department, the victim of Sunday night's fatal shooting was Sean Arcari, 40, who is believed to have been in a dispute with the unidentified suspect.

The incident happened at about 7:57 p.m. Sunday at 217 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, the EHPD said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they were dispatched to that address for reports of a male party who was shot.

That's when the EHPD discovered that the victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

"Immediate medical attention was provided, but despite the best efforts of the emergency responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene," wrote the EHPD.

Police said preliminary investigations suggest the victim was involved in an altercation, which "tragically escalated to gunfire."

"The exact circumstances leading up to the altercation are still under active investigation and the police are diligently examining all available evidence," wrote the EHPD.

"At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident, however, the suspect, believed to be armed and dangerous, fled the scene before officers arrived."

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time," said EHPD Chief Scott Sansom. "Our officers are working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect.”

The EHPD seeks the public's help in investigating the homicide.
