East Hartford Man Accused Of Killing Estranged Wife: EHPD
The man's wife was found dead with fatal stab wounds on June 18.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Tuesday said they have formally charged a 57-year-old East Hartford man in connection with the stabbing death June 18 of his estranged wife.
The East Hartford Police Department announced it has charged Wilkid Valcinord, 57, with the murder of Andra Valcinord.
Police said Wilkid Valcinord is in custody and is being held on a court set bond of $2.5 million for first-degree murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, June 28, in Manchester Superior Court.

On June 18, the EHPD conducted a welfare check at 10 Martin Circle, finding Andra Valcinord dead inside the house.
"Over the last several days, East Hartford detectives worked in conjunction with the CT State Lab, Hartford States Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies to develop probable cause for an arrest warrant for Wilkid Valcinord," wrote the EHPD In a statement.

Police said "rapid DNA testing provided by the CT Division of Scientific Services was instrumental in this investigation."
EHPD Chief Scott Sansom credited the work of all involved in the probe.
"This arrest is a testament to the relentless efforts of our law enforcement professionals, and their commitment to bringing closure to the victim's family," said Sansom.
"We hope that this significant development will provide some solace to the community and serve as a reminder that we will tirelessly pursue justice."
