East Hartford Woman, 22, Charged In 2023 Fatal Crash On I-84: Police

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A 22-year-old East Hartford woman whose car plowed into a 2023 accident scene on Interstate 84 in East Hartford that resulted in one death has been charged.

State police at Troop H in Hartford said Friday that Ileaha Porter, 22, of East Hartford, has been charged with speeding and evading responsibility for injury/death.

Police said she turned herself in at Troop H Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued.

Porter was released from custody on a $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Dec. 30.

On Oct. 7, 2023, Porter was driving a Honda Civic on I-84 in East Hartford when she came upon the scene of the crash of another vehicle that had been traveling the wrong way, police said.

Police said the car Porter was driving slammed into the passenger side of the crashed car and also struck the 29-year-old driver of that vehicle, who was standing outside the crashed car.

The 29-year-old, identified as Westley Clemente-Fuentes of Hartford, later died from his injuries.

At the time, Porter was charged with drunk driving after she was caught by police fleeing the scene.

Thursday's charges came after further investigation.
