Felon Charged After Loaded Handgun Found During Traffic Stop in Hartford: Police
The 33-year-old suspect is still being held pending an expected court appearance later this week.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man with a prior felony conviction was expected in court Thursday after police said officers found a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Lenox Street.
Members of the Hartford Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit conducted an investigative motor vehicle stop around 10 p.m. on Friday, March 13, in the area of 40 Lenox St.
Police said that during the stop, officers located a loaded semi-automatic handgun on the driver’s side floorboard, according to police.

The driver, identified as Marvin Porter, 33, of Hartford, was taken into custody without incident after officers determined he was a previously convicted felon.
Porter faces charges including weapons in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, and possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Online court records indicated Thursday, March 19, that Porter was being held on a $200,000 bond pending a court appearance that day.
Police said the recovered weapon was a Taurus GX4 9mm handgun with a magazine containing eight live rounds.
Officials credited members of the Street Crimes Unit for their role in the arrest and recovery of the firearm.
