Free Summer Meals Available For Hartford Youths

The Community Renewal Team out of Hartford will deliver hundreds of meals for children each weekday to several locations in the city.

HARTFORD, CT — A city-based nonprofit is helping schoolchildren out for summer enjoy nutritious meals free of charge at several locations in the city.

The Community Renewal Team (CRT) will deliver hundreds of meals for children each weekday to several locations in the city.

In total, CRT will deliver more than 35,000 meals for kids this summer as part of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) once again.

Under the SFSP, nutritious meals (including breakfast and/or lunch, and even, supper), will be provided free of charge to children 18 years of age and under.

Food will be distributed at seven locations in Hartford as well as other towns in the area.

Meals are for children 18 and under, free of charge.

There are two categories of services, open registration where families can just show up and "closed" registration where advance registration is required.

Open sites are:

Hartford City Mission Camp Noah; 2194 Main St. Hartford, Breakfast: 9 to 10 a.m. and lunch, noon to 1 p.m.; to July 26.

Kamp Unlimited; 60 Charter Oak Ave. Hartford; Breakfast: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.; Lunch: Noon to 1 p.m.; from July 1 to Aug. 23.

Close sites requiring advance registration are:

Community First School; 50 Love Lane, Hartford; Breakfast: 8:30 to 9 a.m.; Lunch: 11:15 to noon; from June 24 to July 26.

CRT Generations; 35 Clark St., Hartford; Lunch: 12:30 to 1 p.m.; July 1 to Aug. 16.

CRT Youth Artisan Technology Center; 555 Windsor St., Hartford; Breakfast: 8 to 9 a.m.; Lunch: 11 a.m. to noon; July 9 to Aug. 2.

Hartford Communities That Care; 2550 Main St.. Hartford; Breakfast: 9 to 9:30 a.m.; Lunch: Noon to 12:30 p.m.; from July 8 to Aug. 16.

Wilson Gray YMCA Youth and Family Center - Camp Dakota; 444 Albany Ave., Hartford; Breakfast: 8 to 8:30 a.m.; Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; from June 24 to Aug. 23.
