Girl Scout Week Crammed with Kindness, Community & Cookies!

Everyone Invited to Celebrate Organization's 112th Birthday March 10-16th

A 112th birthday is too epic to be celebrated in just one day, so Girl Scouts of Connecticut (GSOFCT) kicks off a week-long commemoration from March 10-16, 2024. The annual worldwide event is jam-packed with themed activities, community service and fun. Since no party is complete without a sweet treat, the week culminates with the delivery of over 1 million packages of Girl Scout cookies!

“Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and always includes the founding of Girl Scouts on March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia,” explains Diana Mahoney, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Connecticut (GSOFCT). “It is a time for the girls to proudly reflect on our history as the oldest girl-led organization while looking toward the future.”

Mahoney notes that Connecticut troops are petitioning state and municipal elected officials to officially proclaim March 12, 2024 as Girl Scout Day.

“More than 50 million American women have participated in the sisterhood of Girl Scouts through the years,” says Mahoney. “We encourage them to support current members by spreading our values and sharing their own experiences.”

We Are Girl Scouts of Connecticut
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alumns, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
