Hallmark Christmas Movie Shot In Hartford, West Hartford

HARTFORD, CT — A former Hartford nightclub has been decorated to be the shooting location for "The Ghost of Christmas Always," a Hallmark movie, according to The Hartford Business-Journal. Allyn Street was closed while the film was being shot at the former NV Nightclub.

It's also being filmed in West Hartford at the carousel in Bushnell Park and the Connecticut State Capitol building in Hartford.

The film is a new take on Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." The movie focuses on Katherine Marley, a woman who spends her afterlife working at the Department of Restoring Christmas Spirit as the Ghost of Christmas Present, according to FOX 61. Katherine meets Peter, who has plenty of Christmas spirit, and the two might be fated for each other.

Details about the movie, including its release date and cast, are being kept under wraps. The film is being produced by Synthetic Cinema International, a Rocky Hill-based production company, according to CT News Junkie.

Movie staff were decorating the Capitol's upper floors with holly boughs and other yuletide decorations on Thursday. A placard outside the Hall of the House of Representatives had been replaced with “The Great Hall, Christmas Spirit Lounge,” CT News Junkie reported.

Connecticut is a popular location for Hallmark Christmas movies, with several being filmed in the state in the last few years.

"Sugar Plum Twist" was shot in Norwich and New London and appeared on the channel last holiday season.

"One Royal Holiday" was filmed in Putnam, Woodstock, and Hartford. The musical, holiday-themed movie premiered on the Hallmark Channel in 2020. "Holiday For Heroes," filmed in several Southeastern Connecticut towns, was released in 2019. In 2018, "Christmas On Honeysuckle Lane" appeared on Hallmark and was shot in Wethersfield.
