Hartford Apartments Turned Into Drug Hub, Manager Sentenced

The apartment manager let a drug organization use it to store, process and distribute heroin and fentanyl.

HARTFORD, CT— A Hartford apartment manager was sentenced to 28 months in federal prison after allowing the complex to be turned into a drug trafficking hub.

Franklyn Nieves, 63, allowed 8-10 Hamilton Street, a six-unit apartment building to store, process and distribute heroin and fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.

Nieves helped the drug organization secure the basement of the building and knew that customers were served at the building.

Nieves was arrested a year ago and pleaded guilty in May to one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises. He was ordered to report to prison Jan. 16.
