HARTFORD, CT – A well-known nonprofit group serving boys and girls in Hartford recently said goodbye to four interns who spent their summer working for the community.

Bank of America sponsored four greater Hartford-area students – three rising seniors and one recent graduate – as "Student Leaders" for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

The interns completed an eight-week, paid summer internship that gave them first-hand experience serving their communities.

Since 2004, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford has partnered with Bank of America's intern program.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, our longstanding partner, has helped inspire and prepare our Student Leaders to enter the workforce,” said Joe Gianni, president, Bank of America Greater Hartford. “Championing jobs in our community not only connects young people to education and job training but helps create a stronger pipeline of diverse talent to fuel our local workforce and economy. Each year, I am moved by our Student Leaders’ commitment to developing their leadership skills and addressing critical issues facing Greater Hartford.”

As part of the program, the Student Leaders participated in a week-long, all expenses paid, national leadership summit in Washington, D.C.

Started in 2004, the Student Leaders program annually recognizes 300 community-focused juniors and seniors from across the U.S., according to Bank of America.
