Hartford Burglar Caught Thanks to Safe Room Access for Homeowner
Once she was safely behind the steel-fortified door, the woman calmly called police until the home invasion suspect was captured in a tub.

HARTFORD, CT — While an armed convicted felon stole jewelry from her Hartford home, a woman called police from a safe room inside the Woodside Circle dwelling near the governor's mansion, and the knife-wielding burglar was subsequently discovered hiding in a bathtub by a police dog, the Hartford Courant reported.
Leroy Mims, 56, who has 46 prior convictions, was charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, second-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, carrying a dangerous weapon and interfering with an officer. He is being held on $750,000 bond.
The Monday afternoon burglary was thwarted by the calm demeanor of the female resident, who stayed on the phone with police personnel once she entered the safe room, which features a door fortified with steel.
